words from the heart ...

A Sleepy Ship Town

With sunsets that can soothe even the most ruffled, stress filled soul ... you can't afford not to visit this quaint town of Belhaven, North Carolina.

If a pin dropped, its subtle vibrations could be felt those handful of blocks that jet from its downtown center, of which consists of one lighted intersection.

Old southern hospitality and friendliness are an overabundant commodity that's easy to stumble across. So if aloof city living is what you're desperate to escape from, then don't hesitate.

Another sweet perk is that it won't break the bank to stay for awhile.

With little Washington and its downtown waterfront a mere 30 minute drive west; Swan Quarter and its ferry to Ocracoke Island also a mere 30 minute drive east; historic Bath where the infamous Black Beard once married and lived an easy 20 minutes south; there's much exploring to be had, if that's your cup of tea.

This sleepy shiptown, with its few marinas, B&B's and small shops makes an easy trek around town.

But the close proximity of the Pantego Creek/Pungo River adds some livlihood with their common place of quick brewing storms, swirling rains, wind funnels, and pale graying skies. With winds so strong that well tied flag will flap madly in these forceful gusts and that firmly secured boat will rock in unison with Pantego's turbullent waves.

But don't fret, as the sun never stays hidden long!
